Bit of an unfortunate one this! Was driving through Windsor yesterday and on a roundabout with quite a bit of congestion and I got hit up the rear by some woman in a Mini.

I was stationary in traffic and had my foot on the brake. Before I know it, I heard a huge bang, got shoved forward and then ended up hitting a Mercedes in front of me.
Got out and started getting really pissed off as when I saw the damage. The rear bumper is broken, bootlid is all loose and the passenger side quarter panel is now dented in and bent.
To make it worse the car won't even shift into 3rd gear at 30mph now, and the revs just keeps climbing (Automatic gearbox).

I got all the details of all parties, and have pictures of the damage of all three cars, in the road exactly as they were just after the impact. My brother was also in the car so I have him as a witness.
The lady admits it was an accident and that she shunted me in the rear. The driver of the Mercedes, who happened to be the managing director of Bacardi and Martini also said he heard a loud bang, and then felt his car being hit.

I've called up my insurance company and told them the exact situation, and told them it was non fault as I was stationary in traffic and got hit with such force that my car is considerably damaged. The Mercedes and the Mini got away with light damage.

Apparently a Hires and Repair company will look into the repairs and will contact me sometime today.
What shall I do, has anyone got any tips or advice?
I'm guessing the car is going to be a write-off, looking at the damage. The car is valued at £1200 with the insurance company. What do I do now, just wait for their assigned Hires and Repairs company and see what they have to say about the situation?

Thanks :(

Your very next step is to contact E30beemerlad,he is the zone's specialist in just this type of accident.

Sorry to hear of another E30 biting the dust, with the shell so damaged that the transmission is out of commision, there is little chance of it being repaired

This sort of thing used to be a case of you making a claim against the mini driver, and the merc driver making a claim against you. Unfortunately, your car at £1200 will be written off, but you could assess the damage and buy it off the insurer and do it up yourself? Do you think it's worth doing that?

Di is right about proving the value of the car. The book may be far, far less than the £1200 you have.

Sorry to hear this though.

You should be able to buy the car back at 10% of the value if it's written of by the insurers.

Right a small update.

The mini driver has admitted all liability and accepts the accident was his fault.

So I am proven to be non-fault, as stated by the mini drivers insurance. I've called lancaster insurance and told them about this, and that 3rd party admits liability and will take repairs on.

They have arranged the car to be trailers to my home address, as it's not there atm.
Also, they will arrange a hire car for me on monday.

I have said I will like to get an independent garage to do the work on the car, so my next step is to get a quote for the work.
They want me to give them the details for the garage who i will be choosing.

They have also said an engineer will come and assess the damage, and will look at the repairs cost, as given by my choice of garage.

My questions is that now it's at this stage, which garage shall i choose?
I'm in 2 mind about getting my cousins garage called AutoTechnics to do it, or would this be a sort of thing that Pacerpete can deal with and come up with a quote for?

Are they obliged to get the car fixed now that 3rd party has admitted liability?

Thanks

Pete are you able to provide repair estimates to provide to insurers in cases like this?

I read in a previous post on here that you could do something like that.

Thanks

Morsels Morsels Morsels

I'd probably keep the car and frag it, and keep things which I may find useful.

I've got my eyes on 325i sport which my uncle knows of in a dolphin grey colour.

But I will definitely be on the lookout for an E30 very soon

from what you are saying the pic building up is that they wont be repairing it, they will write it off.

From the recent talks with the garage, it looks like the poor moredoor is likely to get written off.
Not confirmed, but just have to sit tight and wait until what the valuator says!

How much would you guys value the car at?
Just over 98k miles,
3 owners,
No other body damage prior to accident

Here is a picture of the car earlier this year:

As diable said show any bills that you have for any work done, tell them you bought it because it had been in a music video or something to that effect-they'll probably write it off so just bullshit em....what do have to loose.
If its garaged++ anything that makes it look vintage these people don't know the exact amount either.just depends how bad you wana keep. I like 4 doors
