Hi, just purchased a tech 2 sport after wanting one for years but has a few problems and could do with a bit of help in sortin them.

First off the passenger side footwell is wet, checked the drain from sunroof to a pillar and from there too the underside of the car and the water is flowing through...any other ideas?

Also the wiper motor is mega slow and doesn't work on intermittent.

Lastly the rev counter and mpg doesn't work? And that half of the dash wasn't lit up on the drive home but has come on now. Is this a clocks out job or is there other easier faults I can check first

Nice on for any advice, have looked around the forum but nothing is any clearer...

Wiper motor common fault look on the wiki - remove open and clean and grease it should see it right or if you find its knackered and rusted in there replace it

Dash lights are just bulbs need replacing , there are various bulbs all over it look in the wiki for thy type and locations and guides to replace its not too hard

Check the heater control valve its under the dashboard on the passenger side just at the side of the heater box/or for corrosion at rear of glove box?

Wiper motor wants removing and all the old grease removing and fresh grease putting back in or buy a good used one!?

Sounds like si board in your cluster is faulty

My damp footwell turned out to be water trickling through the grommets where the aircon pipes enter the car through the bulkhead. The solution for me was to prevent water from getting into the area within the engine bay where these pipes sit.

It turned out to be water dripping down through a join in the bodywork beneath the rubber seal that sits along the upper edge of the bulkhead to seal against the bonnet. A careful bit of sealant placed here prevented the issue.

I lifted the carpet and left a dehumidifier going for a couple of days to dry it all out properly. Now after a few months the carpet has remained completely dry (until next time...)

I spent quite a while trying to find the route of this leak. Had checked all of the common causes I found online to no avail and even had the windscreen out fearing the worst.

Good Luck!

Sounds like your car has the usual issues common with tired old Sports (and every other E30 :D ). Fortunately the Wiki covers most of it. Click the blue links for more info on a specific part.

Non-lighting instruments may be because you have inadvertently dimmed them; the headlights switch also doubles up as the instruments lamp dimmer - rotate it to adjust the brightness.
