Whats the best way to pull the m20 engine and box out under a controlled manner....
my prior attempt with a tow rope and a couple of seatbelts really wasnt the one.. was essentially ramming everything in sight!
cant be doing that at all this time round!
ive seen load levellers on ebay but they all have L shaped fixings on the end, dont wanna bolt these to a part of the engine then rip it in two...
Whats the best way to use one of these on it? I know theres a hook on the front of the engine which I can attach it to..
But not sure of any other way to do properly, unless i get some other chain and use a bolt through and through?

get a couple of lifting strops from machine mart and attach them round the lump to the crane, then just take your time, inch by inch

Lift the rear of the car,DIY drive on ramps are about right.
Lift from the gadget at the front top of the engine and the hole in the block just above the starter.
The 'dangle angle' is about 45 degrees, but with your rear end
raised,the engine/'box will clear the slam panel,honest!

Ive never lifted the rear of an E30 to remove or refit an engine and ive pulled/refitted errrr...loads.
However i do use a load leveler and it makes things a lot easier

It's not at all essential to lift the rear end of the car, but if you have a pair of DIY ramps available, it makes lifting the engine and box out a little easier.
