I need tyres for the M3 and some of the local suppliers are expensive to say the least.
I am a fan of toyo's but will consider others.
Anyone know anywhere doing any good deals at the moment?
cheers

They are not to bad and do a good range of budget and premium tyres.
Do you have any in mind ?

Perferably premium toyo sports, not sure which model to go for. Been a while since I bought them.

Oponeo have been the cheapest I could find lately. (Never heard of Tyreleader, though.)

Not sure if it's true or not but I recall being told that the "V" pattern on tyres like Toyo etc are being done away with in the near future. Just something to be aware of if purchasing a new set of Toyo's for all 4 corners...don't want to end up needing to replace 1 and them not being available...

Manufacturers definitely seem to be moving towards asymmetric designs where there is an inner and outer specific side to the tyre.Gavla wrote:Not sure if it's true or not but I recall being told that the "V" pattern on tyres like Toyo etc are being done away with in the near future. I'm not keen on them myself, it just seems odd that the diagonal lines will run in opposite directions on opposite sides of the car.
Plus every bmw I've owned has worn the inside edges of the tyres first, so I like to turn the tyres on the rims and swap them side to side to even out the wear and get more life from them. So I specifically look for directional tyres rather than sided ones.

So I am thinking of ordering toyo proxes T1 sports from tyreleader - https://secure.tyreleader.co.uk/?t=tyre&i=245416&q=2
£139.78 for the set of rears - 245, 40,17 but just realised they dont do toyo's in the oem front size 225, 45, 17.
Any suggestions or brand of tyre to use? I dont want to be spending much more than this.

Toyo are not premium tyres, mid range performance tyres at best.

Camskill do the uniroyal rainsport 3 in both sizes and the Avon zv5
Approx £64 for the fronts and £84 for the rears
My dad is running the rainsports on a 150bhp vw bora sport and lives them and they are a new tyre so they should be available for years to come

Have used both camskill and oponeo lately - no issues at all with either. Oponeo do free delivery which made the difference on pricing for my last order.

I think that's the cheapest it's whether you think any other brands are better for not much more money like the uniroyals.

Ive always loved how the proxes performed in the wet, thats why I favour them.
Will of course consider opinions on other brands, what does everyone think of vredsteins?
cheers

I have their snow tyres and love them but never had summer tyres.
If it's wet weather your thinking about those uniroyals are good the rainsport 3

Yes Avon's are poor in the dry and dangerous in the wet!jonny323i wrote:Chap at work has a citic r type and likes them are theg really that bad
Not knocking toyo's, they are ok but not premium tyre such as the likes of Michelin, continental, Goodyear, Pirelli etc.dimebag_from_hell wrote:Good enough for me barry.

My old m3 had ContiSportContact 3's on them and I really cannot say they performed any better than the toyo's. I actually think the toyo's were better in the wet believe it or not.bss325i wrote:Yes Avon's are poor in the dry and dangerous in the wet!jonny323i wrote:Chap at work has a citic r type and likes them are theg really that bad

Well I've had every incarnation of continental sport contact tyre on various bmw's right up to the latest 5P on my E46 M3 and have found them to be on par with michelins pilot sports in the wet and almost on par in the dry.dimebag_from_hell wrote:My old m3 had ContiSportContact 3's on them and I really cannot say they performed any better than the toyo's. I'll admit, I've only tried toyo's T1R's on an E30 325i, an E46 M3 and and E39 alpina B10 and found them ok wet or dry but nothing to rave about TBH.
It's an M3 you've bought, just buy some michelins and revel in their awesome dry grip!
