That's what I was after, want something quite beefy to secure a quick release pin through (it will make sense when I start putting it together). You will be a hero and save me lots of p1ssing around if it fits!

right guys as I'm waiting for parts at the mo I need some input from all of you I've started think about the exhaust system now and as this a v8 obviously it's gonna have 2 banks of exhaust
now question is do I
1. come 2 out and down from the turbos and 2 pipes straight to the back?
or
2. come 2 out and down from the turbos then go single pipe to the back?
as I already have my old system I can use most of that for a single pipe
it's all gonna be hand made by me I just can't make up my mind what to do
so input please ?????????

well, my thoughts.....
a single pipe would possibly be quicker and easier to make, but would have to be quite large, and so you'd lose ground clearence.
twin pipes would be slightly more work, but wouldn't sit as low.
on mine i went for twin pipes.

I want to vote side pipes - it's a twin pipe system after all
And I'm sure the turbos will lower the db level, slightly! But I'm not sure side pipes would suit an E30
I know of an LS1 engined E36 that has 2 exhaust valves fitted (1 each manifold). With them closed it runs through a custom but very quiet system and is no louder than my 318i, with them open....

and your right I think the turbos will make it a tad quieter
the noise level doesn't really bother me as it's not a daily car and I'm used to running with open headers on the old mans Chevys
it does turn some heads

Great progress as usual, did the braced trailing arms miss the tank inlet pipe then? Any pics of how tight it is?

spent a good few hours on the car yesterday sorting the steering rack and linkage out and mocking things up for exhaust clearance etc
flywheel has been sent to maggs for lightening and when i get it bk everything can then go to be balanced (engine wise)
just a couple of pics of what i was up to yesterday

Looking good. Nice and far back in the engine bay, so should be good for balance.
