Counted the teeth 41 to 10 =4.1
The table on wiki says that this was available for a 325i. What do you guys think about the ratio.

That's 65mph at 3000rpm,assuming a manual 'box.
3:64 gives 73mph at 3000rpm.
4:1 was stock for 320i,but the short stroke in the small engine gives it's best when revved.

I would imagine 4.1 being rather low for a 325i; I felt my Sport's 3.91:1 was a bit on the low side.

3.45 will make your car feel like a 320i at take off, but you'll have wonderful fuel economy at motorway speeds. That diff came off a diesel, I think.

Just to put this out there, If the Z3 uses the same rear axle would it not be better fitting an LSD from one of them being that bit newer if used with rear half propshaft and driveshafts

The Z3 uses a gearbox with a direct top gear rather than the overdrive box used for the E30.DaveMcleod88 wrote:Just to put this out there, If the Z3 uses the same rear axle would it not be better fitting an LSD from one of them being that bit newer if used with rear half propshaft and driveshafts
Z3 LSDs are a suitable ratio for E30s fitted with M5x engines complete with gearbox.
A 3.73 or a 3.91 medium case open diff. is the best solution for the OP., taking cost into account.

Very few decent traders use ebay these days. If you want something that's worth hundreds of pounds, put a Wanted ad in the suitable forum on here, and you'll get decent offers from the traders on here.
