Guys dropping a boat anchor in over the festive period.
What's the best option/part number for a e34 manual box short shifter?
Z3?

For a start, the "Correct" term to use is "M52 BEATER"!!!! has to be used in this section!

My "M52 Beater"!! Lol has E34 530i gearbox.
Would a 530 box have similar ratio's as putting a e30 320i box on a se e30 325i?

They reckon the 320i box are similar ratios to the 325i sports! That's what I'm getting at.

I had M52 Beater a few years back and thinking of it the standard gear throw was pretty tight!

I've got a M30B32 with a 530 box and 1.9 Z3 shifter, works nicely :) a new shift knuckle for the box will help with 'slop' so worth fitting while it's all on the floor

gearbox selector shaft seal is a must !!

new clutch slave cylinder as they are so cheap, last one i bought from CP4L was £3 (yes three quid)

check the rear of the cylinder head blanking plate gasket is good and not leaking as it will be a head off job to change

new oil pressure swich is an easy win, it's a pain to get to once fitted.

check the blanking cap on the underside of the inlet manifold

have a look at the condition of your dizzy cap and rotor arm, this job is probably 5 mins on the floor and almost impossible when fitted.

maybe water pump - only £20 from CP4L

Hope that helps

Hi all, sorry to jump on this thread but I have a 1.9 z3 shifter on an m30 box but it sits quite far forward I.e 2nd/4th is more like neutral position. Is this correct or has a wrong part been used?

Its probably the length of the selector arm which isn't quite right ?? I have the same set up as you describe and it sits in the middle fine.

is the back end of the rod secured in the little bracket underneath ?

I had it done at a garage, perhaps it is as lee says 180 degrees out? Will investigate this weekend. Thanks for the advice and will post findings Sunday. Cheers
