Quick Question, Does the E36 318is sump fit on the E30 318is sump ? I know its the same engine but has it being modified in anyway.

No. You need to change it for a sump from an E30 is (M42), or the more available 316/8i (M40)

Pretty sure you have to change it to an E30 M40 or M42 sump. Same reason you can't use E36 M5x sumps when doing conversions. I think the subframe is in a different place relative to the engine.

The E36 M42 has an all in one oil pan and sump bowl, with the sump bowl at the back of the engine - no good for the E30. If you want to use an E36 M42 in an E30, you will need an E30 M40/M42 upper oil pan and lower sump bowl.

M40 and M42 E30 sumps are the same.

If you're trying to fit the engine into an E30, yes.
