Cutting out!(update,sorry for using the C word).

My car has started just cutting out,when I try and restart it the brake pad warning lights up and no other ignition lights.When I fiddle with the three separate relays it stars as normal,this could be a co-insidence.Ive fitted a brand new fuel pump relay and a Dme main relay.I have a CLIFFORD comcept 50 car alarm which was already fitted when I bought the car.We all know the the said makes history could this be causing my problem.I tryed messing around with the code rocker switch which sounded like it was working a relay,I don't tend to use this much at all,would this make the relay stick open or closed and cause my problem.

The bit about fiddiling with the relays seems to be a major coincidence,because when its happened latley ive not even opened the bonet and after approx a minute it starts.

Do you mean will crank but won't start or won't crank?

Sorry,what I ment was it cuts out and I try and restart it but it dosnt turn over and the brake pad warning lights up and no other ignition lights.After about 30 seconds_1minute all the igntion lights light up and it starts.It could do the same thing quarter of a mile down the road or not do it for a couple of days.

Check the engine to body earth strap. Take it off, clean the ends and refit.

Its on the sump near the sender unit.

Its a strap that is bolted to the chassis.
