I was delighted to get my 325 through its MoT recently after being laid up for the winter. Most surprising was the fact that the emissions were so low considering I have higher flow-rate injectors and a custom chip. The readings were:

CO 1.08 (limit 3.5)
HC 73 (limit 1200)

These seem incredibly low, but I don't know if I should be very happy or worried?? I drove the car last weekend and it's driving like a dream, though drinking fuel like it's 20p/l!! £20 went in 70 miles suggesting very low 20's mpg, though I guess I was driving a tad enthusiastically!

Am I permitted to bump this?

Why do you have "higher flow rate injectors" and what do you aim to achieve by having them? your test results are about what I'd expect for an E30, so presumably the idle has been set up to suit.

Hi Brian,
I bought the injectors off someone on here ages ago - they're from an M50 I believe. I had them cleaned and the flow rates checked, then gave this info to Speedtouch who did me a custom chip. I dont know if it was just that my previous injectors were dirty, or perhaps the placebo effect, but I felt the car was far more lively afterwards. There was a post on here some time ago that debated whether the M50 injectors were a good mod for the M20 engine, but I'm happy that my car is running really well with them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my emission readings. It's always good to know these old cars are still running well within MoT limits despite all the tinkering.

Good to hear that the chip is working well with your injectors. :)
