Went for a pretty long drive yesterday and all was fine.
Now today at low speeds (10km-40km) I can hear a quick tapping sound coming from under the car?
It doesn't make that sound when idling so does that cross out the common drivetrain problem? I've recently just brought the car so I'll do a filter and oil change just incase.
Its a manual 316 with 240,000 on the clock 8O
Any suggestions?

This is a terrible video of the tapping.

Its only on the outside so I think thats crosses off the heater matrix problems some e30 owners have.

Could be quite a few things.

For a start, get under the back wheels and look for the little metal screw tips in the back plate. These screws are holding the brake shoes inside the drum, and if they've come loose (backplate rust) then the shoe will be rattling around inside the drum.

If it's not that, then get the car jacked up and spin each wheel in turn. Give it a good yank to check for wobbles (loose bearings) and rattles (worn ball joints at the front).

I did have my car on a super hill the day before and it slid on handbrake before I put it in gear to hold it? Would that be enough to loosen the plate/bent the screw out?
Also my exhaust rattles a little at the rear already so Ill get on to tightening all the brackets tomorrow too.
Thanks for the suggestions!
