Go to dvla and look for E3 O-- plates, cheapest way and from what I can tell the only way at the moment as no E30 plates have been released.

I think you would have to write to the dvla and see if they will release it. If it's anything good the chances are theyll put it into one of their auctions with a high reserveminiblob wrote:Anyone know if you can reclaim a plate that was on a car that got written off some time ago???

Car doesn't loose its reg. just because it's written off, or do you mean its been officially scrapped?
Different thing altogether.

I assumed written off and destroyed rather than written off with the possibility of repair, in which case, yes, the car would keep its registration until it's been officially destroyed and the registration mark could go beck in the pot as it were.
cheers,

I think the question was more about can you transfer the plate from a written off car, which may be difficult if it was some time ago as both cars have to have MOT and taxBrianmoooore wrote:Car doesn't loose its reg. just because it's written off, or do you mean its been officially scrapped?

Yes, you need MOT and tax, which you won't get for a car that's officially scrapped, but I suspect many of us have cars, written off or not, that have long since ceased to physically exist, but as far as the DVLA are concerned, are just resting.
A MOT ticket is possible for one of these cars if you have suitable contacts, so a bit of tax and insurance, and a transfer can be made.
There is a discretionary exemption to the taxed and MOT'd rule for cars that have recently been written off.

Be warned , nowadays, they have a nasty habit of wanting to inspect the donor car . Especially turdz that have not got a continuous tax / mot history
