Loud Squealing/Screechy sound

Car was working fine until yesterday evening , when i started to hear an intermittent loud screeching sound when i shift through the gears. Its not giving that sound when idle , only when changing and then it stopped after 4 or 5 secs. Needless to say , i switched off immediately and rolled the car down the hill and into my yard. What could it be ?

If it's gear change related (= clutch in operation), I'd be looking at the clutch release bearing.

I will have a look after work this evening Brian , i am hoping its just the belts. Otherwise i'm taking the whole damn B20 lump out and looking for a 325 engine to swap in.
I should elaborate : they will charge an arm and a leg here to replace a clutch , might as well swap a whole engine out and be done with it. I can then sell the old lump and recover some costs.

Turned out to be the Belt and pulley , back to normal!
