Ok so speaking with a few people on here, it came to light that there might be a small demand for an affordable big brake upgrade kit.

Basically iv made my big brake kit from a very readily available and cheap set up. With very very good results. My set up uses 312 mm disks. Matched callipers and my particular set up even uses the matching master cylinder and servo for the front callipers, and also to clear my 24v conversion,

The performance of this set up is amazing. And Im only running road pads and disks from pagid!!!

I'm just putting this post up to see if there would be any interest in a few kits? And whether it will be worth getting some made up.
If there is any interest, I can start to work out with you guys how the kits would go.
But basically I'm thinking a basic kit with -

modified disks
Adaptor plates
And callipers

This would be the cheapest set up.
But there are many other options inc different disk sizes due to wheel limitations, as my set up can only run 16" or larger, so I'd do a set up for 15" wheels too,
But also I can do full kits with master cylinder and servo, braided lines , snd even brembo callipers, and 323mm disks, even 340 mm is an option,
But also a kit of just modified disks, and adaptor plates , snd you take a trip to the breakers to get your own callipers.
All this can be discussed further if it's something you guys would be interested in.
So il leave it there and wait on your feedback
Cheers

Hi guys. Ok seems to be a bit of interest. As said my kit is 312mm and only works with 16" or larger wheels. Now I can make a kit for 15" wheels using 288 disks and the same callipers, so this would be a case of different adaptor plates. Which is good as the cost of a basic kit will be exactly the same.
Yes the parts are vag, so easily available. And also great for performance disk and pad options too.

I have a brembo set up that I was going use on my car so can use this to make a brembo kit. Again this will use vag parts modified, so easy to get parts ad performance parts for,

So as a start point, if I said I will peice together a 15" wheel kit and a "16 wheel kit, in a basic kit form with the following -

1.Modified disks. (For now just good quality pagid road disks) but drilled grooved is definitely an option here. :-)
2. Custom mounting brakets
3. Nuts bolts and sundries to fit the

Would you guys like the callipers and custom brake lines to fit??
If so
4. Callipers
5. Custom brake lines. (Braided, with choice of plated or stainless fittings)
This would leave just the pads of your choice,

Now as for the brembo kit. I can make a 312 and 323mm kit easily. In the same way as the other kits. I can supply the modified disks
Adaptor plates
Sundries
Brake lines
This would mean you would buy the correct callipers yourself to finish the kit.

To fit brembo under 15" will take a little more time. But will look into this too.

As said I can advise or supply master cylinders and servos to match all these kits.
These are also modified items. And with a few mods as parts can be used in 24v conversions, with great results and braking performance :-)
This could be and extra ADD ON to the kits, so let me know your thoughts,

I am an engineer and conversion specialist, so the kits will be well thought out and as easy to fit/use as I can make them :-)

Thanks for the input guys, I'm going to get on with working these kits out over the next few weeks. I have a standard bbs 15" wheel to use for the 15" kit, as a mock up to check for clearance etc.... What would be the wheel of choice for the 16-17" kit? I use 17" alpina reps on my car so no clearance problems,

Right I have plenty to get on with. Thanks for the feedback guys
Jay

What calipers though, and how will they be matched to the master cylinder?

The audi tt disc has been used on lots of E30's with the older 5 and 7 series calipers, I use this on my car

Basically I use vw single piston callipers as these are cheap, easy to find and great choice of pads. I use the disks too and have them machined. And then use a modified servo and master from a vw too, an, as a plus, with a remote reservoir. These work with a 24v conversion too.
This also allows me to run brembo callipers with this set up. So basically I use everything vag group! :-)
But these do work with the original master and servo, I just like the idea of running the whole system apart from rear brakes all matched.
It gives great performance and great feel to the brakes,

Basically if I make these kits. There will be 2 callipers to choose from. Single piston or brembo,
And 3 disk sizes, 288,312, 323
And these set ups will work perfectly with the servo and masters, which can also be used in a 24v conversion too.

The reason for using all vag parts, is it works perfectly, and I can make all these different siZe kits using the same parts! This makes it much more simple. And easily upgradable if you so wish at a later date!! :-)

Dan,
I know the older series callipers are used.
Also the audi disks too.
Im just trying to see if anyone is interested In a cheap brake set up. That is more of a bolt I affair, with a few different options, like size of disk. and single or 4 pot callipers,
When I say about matched front callipers and servo and master I mean if you use the vag brakes as the master and servo from vag group too, :-)

This is only something iv been thinking about as I'm an engineer. And think I can offer a very reasonable selection of brake kits. Ranging from a few £££ for a kit where you source your own bits and I supply the modified parts. To a decent size 4 pot set up!
I am confident that by keeping the parts From one place. (Vag) I can keep costs down but make a very good selection of kits,
Thanks for the feedback

Quasar,
You have to run the modified servo and master cylinder as a pair. And if you have a 24 v set up, a remote reservior too, from a breaker of course! :-) as I want to keep costs down too :-)

I need to get a custom bracket made for my e30 brake setup i am using the e38 brembos with 312mm redrilled tt discs.

Can anyone offer assistance here? I am how to go about this, I've seen threaded inserts used on the bracket and also a simple plate. to connect the mounting locations.

Thanks in advance guys.

Ok guys. A I stated at the start. This was to test the water, as I made my own kit. I wanted to see if there would be any interest in me making some more. And basically what sort of set ups people would want. :-)
Now I have something to go on. I will over the next few weeks. Start putting together some kits and prices, and also see what I can fit under what wheels, :-)

My 312mm with single piston callipers need 16" min. But I run alpina reps so have plenty of clearance.
Now 288 will def fit under 15" with single piston callipers. But iv got this idea in my head that with brembos I could fit 312 under a 15"
I have have used another 312mm disk with a better offset, when I did a brembo conversion on a mk2 golf. As I had clearance issues with that car too.

Anyway back to the task at hand. Il try to get a basic price on the 288 and 312 single piston kits. ASAP. Iv got the basic outlay in my head. Just need to work out machining costs. Etc...

Could you guys do a quick drop list. With what you are looking for. Ie:-

Dave- 15" set up with brembo.

Just to remind you guys again. This is just something iv though about and I enough interest il start to make a few bolt on kits. :-)
Cheers guys

Maybe some pictures of your set up would be helpful, ie re drilled holes on the dics, full lock shot with the wheel off showing a cross section of the disc, caliper mounting bracket etc
Would give a good idea of the quality/fit and finnish. That could help some people make a more conscious decision as to weather they would be happy to have one of your kits. I have seen a few custom brake set ups, some look great but others not so and can also have remifications in the event of a crash or claim so some pic's would help.

Ok guys. Like I say I was mainly putting the feelers out to gauge interest, and there seems to be a fair bit. So il start messing about with parts, machining costs, and making decent cost effective kits, please bare with me guys and over the next few weeks, il get pics of my kit up for you. And also get these other kit options worked out.
I have everything here to mock all the kits up. All disk sizes and callipers, inc brembo, :-)
Thanks again for the feedback
Cheers
