Thought I would share my little accident with you lot, after flying over 500 miles up to pick this little (big) beauty up;

Image

A few miles from home I did this on a dwarf wall.

Image

A small roadside repair got me home.

After all the pain of dealing with the previous owner re; the V5 and sourcing a new bumper and wing I'm not sure I can be bothered to bolt them on and paint her. I bolted on a new indicator and have let a friend have the use of her for the week but I am 99% sure she is getting fragged and weighed in over the bank holiday.

Still looks good on one side though;

Image

I'm expecting to get my money back fragging her, these are so rare now.

I might try sell her but shes not worth a great deal, the history has been lost by previous owners although I am assured it had some, the car was known by several well known dealers and previousely spent upto a decade in a museum.

The shell and paint (where its not bent) is in great shape however 10 years in a museum didn't stop the rear bumper taking a small knock, the dash cracking nor the clocks give up the ghost.

Sadly I had great plans but they are all shelved now. Thought you might like a giggle. I have earnt the nick name 'Captain Crash' by my mates which is ironic really given one of them has yearly vehicle accidents and this is my first!

Was this the turd Hoobs/ Mark E21 had and served to a guy in Scotland ? Why don't you fix it ? Unless you are VERY patient and have lots of room, there is very little on there of value if you go down the fragging route :(

Yes it is. Its been 12 weeks and I am still waiting for the guy in Scotland to send the V5 to the DVLA! Though he was living in Loughborough when I met him and only working for a company in Scotland. Plus I have to go to Norfolk to pick up the wing and the bumper.

I sorted all the running issues during the 7 hour drive home. Mechanically its sound, the shell is sound just now the shape is slightly un-sound.

What do you reckon it would frag for??

I suppose I could bolt the bits on and have it wrapped chop the springs and cruise round like I'm an extra in Lock Stock! :D

Did the previous freak resolve the over heating issue that he kept mentioning ?
Re fragging, you would need to get a few ads up and wait and wait :( Most if not all of the mechanical bits are worthless, unless you find the right victim, rimz are snide 14" TRX look a likes, trim is worthless etc :( And to top it all, scrap is down to Ca £80 per tonne :(

Fix it and smoke it. They are not unpleasant when they work and as there are none left , as a complete car with a ticket, some freak will buy it :)

I resolved the over heating issue by bleeding the coolant system, my friend is currently using it for his commute to work and home each day in rush hour (with some decent sun shine) and no repeats of it over heating. Who ever the previous freak was his mechanic was some sort of ham fisted monkey.

I managed to bleed it by the light if a service station lamp post in the pissing down rain and get another liter of water in the expansion tank, topped up with coolant when I got home and there has been no loss of fluids or over heating since.

It is a very pleasant motor to drive, and it gets plenty of looks.

Now the only remaining issues are the 'bump', dash and now the windows don't work, although that was down to myself removing the fuse for an emergency replacement for the van!

The dash will be the service board and or the batteries that power it. They are pretty straight forward to fix IF the batteries have not leaked and destroyed the PCB :(

I'm using a GPS speedo at the moment, but yes, ideally the dash is the batteries. I guess I am leaning towards fixing her again!

..keep it boggo if you want to sell it again. There was one on ebay last year with chopped springs, banded steels etc, it stuck around for months and months :(

If it was an earlier 'purer' one with steels and chrome rings I'd be all over this :D

Well I know this isn't a for sale thread but right now as she stands any offer around £600 would own it!

I'm so tired of it and the aggro and know if I want to keep it it needs another £200-£300 chucked at it to make her presentable. I have to park it at the local pub or my mates farm because it's too long for my garage and driveway!

As if I didn't feel bad enough already now words from an anonymous person I have never met have tipped me over the edge!!

In fairness I'm 30 and I'm fucked, no prizes for that either!

£65 per tonne here yesterday, 340kg of scrap piled into the Transit left me driving off the weigh bridge with a cheque for just under £23

Less the cost of two 9" metal cutting discs, less the cost of £5 of diesel left me with just enough money to buy 25g of Snout :(

Cool motor though March

a wing can be sourced closer to home I'm sure, I think I have one the same colour in my garage although the leading edge has a small dent in.

I'd keep it or sort the damage out at least, these are just not wanted today, the front grille etc are easy to get though.

Struggling with the grill and chrome surround. The guy who sold me the wing and bumper isn't responding to ebay messages now so I have started a chargeback so if you have a wing that's great. PM me a price.

Indicator and front lights were a piece of piss to find though. If you know where I can get the other bits let me know!

Do the E21 and E23 share the same plastic grill.

More likely than not I will put it on eBay this weekend as it is. I don't realistically expect it to sell but there must be someone who loves her as much as I do. If I fix her I will more than likely not sell until I get bored or pissed off again.

In typical style I took the e23 out today around the town and felt like the don, so I am 3 to 2 on for fixing her up again. Still waiting for news on the bumper and wing though.

Parked up on the yellows outside my local so I could keep an eye on her and because there was no parking in the car park and I can honestly not one person walked past without checking her out or pausing. Not even the traffic warden! :(

If anyone can help with parts please let me know.

On the contrary, I've found it difficult to find spares for my E23s, the stuff I did find was IMO overpriced. I'm OK now as I sold the one that needed the bits!
