This the same "mechanic" who told you to get a Bosch tune?jon-m42 wrote:
Sorry what I meant was that when I had a garage look over the car a long while back they did mention at that time the injectors were all ok.
Get a fuel pressure gauge on the thing! This will diagnose a leaking injector as well as checking the FPR, etc.

No this is not the same mechanic who told me to go get a Bosch tune check up, that was a guy who I called out of the yellow pages a mobile mechanic.
The guy who said the injectors were ok was a garage in soho london. Cant quiet remember the name ofthe garage as you can be sure I have been to many of them just to sort this damm thing out.
So looks as if i will have to invest in afuel pressure regulator reading tool.
How will this tell me if the injectors are working fine and would this also direct which injector is working/not working correctly?

When the engine is switched off, the fuel pressure in the rail should be maintained. If it drops off, then one of the possible reasons is one or more leaking injectors.
Unplug the vacuum on the fpr and check for the smell of fuel or and drops. This could indicate a faulty fpr diaphragm. When the engine is running put your finger on and off the vacuum hole if there is no change then your fpr is faulty.
Not sure whereabouts in London you are, but BW's in Hayes are very good.. Jason worked for years at BMW around the times of E30's and so on. I usually take mine there if it's something I can't sort.

How well does Jason know his e30's I mean mechanically ?
and has he got the old equipment i.e. diagnostics kits/ computers and laptops?
I am willing to travel almost any corner of London at least to get this old girl right.
Thanks
Jon
Yeah he's brilliant. He basically spent all his early mechanic years at the dealers exclusively on BMW's of this era. The co-owners got a touring as well and is equally clued up, looks like Peter out of Family Guy though.
Location's a pain in the arse, obviously Hayes is out the way and you'll have to leave the car, so it'll be a case of mini cabs until it's ready. It's worth it though, they've sorted out a couple of problems I've had that no one could get to the bottom of. If mine ever needs a mechanic it goes straight there.
