Can anyone suggest all the possible causes of steering wheel to shake under braking that is not.......
wheel bearing, tie rod end, wishbone rear bush, front ARB bush, steering column (lower) UJ, buckled wheels, alignment, brake discs, calipers, brake pads or tyres?
Cheers

I'm think "wishbone rear bush" is actually the lollipop bush, so that's covered already.

I'm assuming from the list above that you've already checked/changed those parts............ but even so............. when I replaced my discs, the new ones were not great!!! They actually felt warped for a while - mainly vibrated when braking from higher speeds - but actually bedded in well after a bit of abuse!!!
I've also had new discs in the past that were shocking from the word go and did not bed in at all, so were promptly removed!!!
There's always scope for a new part to be worse than what came off!!!

It might be obvious but you thought about bad tyres or tracking?
Tighten up all nuts and bolts and check all of the bushes first.

This! You can check the disc run out by jacking a wheel off of the ground, turning to full lock so that you can see behind the wheel, then holding the tip of something like a pencil close to the disc, with your hand braced against something solid, like the strut, while spinning the wheel.NoTurbo wrote: Im thinking of going back over over old ground
Won't be as accurate as a dial gauge, but will give an idea.

I would jack the front of the car up, and shake the front wheels in each plane, and inspect the various joints, including the steering rack inner drumsticks - I had a Peugeot 306 Cabriolet that failed the MOT on excessive play in one, and once a new one was fitted, it transformed the handling.

Braided lines fitted, complete fluid flush, still a lovely clear goldy colour.NoTurbo wrote:Checked brake lines and bled the system?
This is the one area I have not touched, apart from the UJ.....yet.Speedtouch wrote:I would jack the front of the car up, and shake the front wheels in each plane, and inspect the various joints, including the steering rack inner drumsticks - I had a Peugeot 306 Cabriolet that failed the MOT on excessive play in one, and once a new one was fitted, it transformed the handling.
I tried this at the local tyre fitter, no signs of warp to the naked eye, but the balancing machine was not designed for this sort of fine measurement, so abandoned it.Brianmoooore wrote:
