Just aquired some side skirts from a fellow zoner, now I just need to get the fittings so I can get them on!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I've found the grommets that are fitted to the sill on eBay but can't find the ones that are on the skirts that you push into the grommets.
Cheers, Dave.

Thanks, that diagrams just baffled me though
Didn't realise there was that many different parts to it, I had it in mind that I would just need plugs and grommets (5 of each, per side iirc).

Should be with you! I've sent 88 of these pdfs to our wiki guru, and hopefully they'll all soon be available to all the zone.

I've read the instructions before, I was just wondering if there was somewhere that sold the set of fittings, just trying to be lazy and find a place on the net that will deliver and save me calling bmw and collecting them

There is a place that sell all you need. It'll have a big blue and white roundel outside.
Myron clips are pence from BMW. It's not worth looking elsewhere to be honest.

I thought that they were, and had a search before offering to send them to Davelarge. I found the m-tech 2 skirt fitting instructions easily enough, but couldn't find any for SE skirts, so concluded that I must have been mistaken.Grrrmachine wrote:Side skirt instructions have been in the Wiki for yonks!

Wiki content is great, but finding that content could do with improvement.

Just be aware you need to drill the sills to mount the clips. Just my two pence worth but I would not be drilling into tidy sills. You could just tiger seal the skirts on?

There's two ways to fit side skirts - the proper way, with the fixing bits from BMW, or a bodge up, involving Tiger Seal.

The sills aren't rotten but the cars by no means immaculate, have you used tiger seal to fit skirts?
Sounds like an easy option compared to drilling but I don't want it to look like a bodge.

No I decided against fitting them at all in the end.

That's beautifully ironic....davelarge wrote:...just trying to be lazy...

Below is based upon my own assumptions and researching different paints, primers, rust treatment etc. I have't actually put this to practise yet...smithysmith wrote:Just be aware you need to drill the sills to mount the clips. I would have thought it will fine if you prep the drilled holes appropriately after cutting them; seal exposed metal with a decent strong primer preferalbly with zinc in, then top coat, once thats done get some waxoil inside the sills through the holes if you can. I'd be inclined to put some grease in locally around each hole too. Also clean, polish, wax and wax oil the surface that will be covered by the skirts.
