Just bought an E46 and the rear sensors appear not to work. Occasionally when engaging reverse i get a long (5-10 seconds) burst, other times nothing. I assume one or more of the sensors is faulty, is there anyway of telling which ones ?

Simples...

Stick the car in reverse, ignition to position 1 (engine not running) put your ear by each individual parking distance sensor and check

If they are working each one should give a clicking sound, if no sound comes from the pdc it's duff :D

Thanks, found the culprit and will order a replacement. Is it a "bumper off" job to change or can the black "grill" they are in be removed seperatley ?

Hi ,

Pre face lift you can pull the pdc from the underneath

Facelift like mine you will need to take the bumper off :x

Hope this helps
