Hi guys hope you can help, I'm trying to locate a part but I'm not entirely sure what it's called I think it's the adjusting Bar (not the nut)
Basically it the bit that tensions the alternator and power steering belt
Apparently it's a common fault but just trying to find somewhere that stocks them or or someone who has one as BMW can't give me a date for when they will receive it from Germany

Could be. I haven't fitted it yet.
Maybe I'll get it framed?
As with most parts, BMW willprobably get some manufactured. Parts often go NLA and then appear again.

Alternator and P/S pump have separate tensioning bars, don't they?
Here's no 8 for the alternator > http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=12&fg=21
Checked with BMW, it seems to be available for £12.
And number 12 here is for P/S pump > http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=32&fg=15
Again, £9 quid from BMW.

The reason these adjusters strip their teeth is that the nut and bolt securing the star wheel is slackened off too much when making an adjustment, allowing the star wheel to slide off of the side of the toothed bar. Nut should just be slacked the minimum amount to let the wheel turn on the bar.
