At least the engine is being pulled out with some sunshine on it compared to the snow when it went in

Is that an early engine mate? it has the coolant elbow at the back of the head...

Check the engine number/code by the starter motor, you could have an early high comp lump.

No idea on the head but there should a date stamp on the head near where the stat housing bolts up.
Then again it could be anything the way it was lobbed together lmao!
You selling the engine? those mounts on that lump are the very first set i sold
Pazza's mate collected them, Jay i think his name was.

Yep.
Clio servo to clear the airbox, that's what I bought anyway.
Also, the E36 airbox will need some butchery to fit, iirc, the centres for the ITB's are different.

Ok so slight update peeps:
Stripped out the pedal box / wiring loom+ Ecu and everything i need now to put the lump into the cabby!
Getting really excited now!! I wanted to take the M20 out of the cabby this weekend but the weather had other ideas
So instead I spent most of the day taking bits off the engine and spraying and generally tidying things up (Pictures to follow)
Frankenstein strikes again! I remember seeing this when i was going through the clutch problems and i completely forgot about it!

How the hell did this get so bent is what im trying to understand!

Heres some pics of what I've been up to since the engines been in my garage awaiting its new home
Got a shedload of parts from work and theres still more on the way (albeit from germany
)
So i got to tidying the engine up and making it look more fresh!
Started with off with the exhaust manifold: (before and after)

Then moved onto the Rocker cover:
(went for a hammerite hammered black..very pleased with the result!!)

halfway:

and the finished article

I then moved onto the Inlet manifold:
(I was considering doing it the same as the rocker cover after the result i got but i wanted a bit of contrast in the engine bay so i switched the colours - i decided on hammered Silver and black lettering)

and a couple of them together

Updateeee
So the day has come to remove the M20..and what a PAIN IN THE ARSE THAT WAS!
This was harder to remove then the M30 was, most definitely due to the auto box!
i considered getting them out separately but thought F l_l ck it and went for it very carefully!
In the end it took me My brother AND my old man to prise this lump from its home!
Didnt get as many pics as id liked to have but it will have to do!
How the day started.. Removed the prop, exhaust, bonnet and got to work in the engine bay!

and after a lot of struggling, swearing, lifting, pushing...it...was...out!

Then i got to work cleaning up the engine bay ready for its new heart!
Before

After

Now im wondering wether to get rid of the E30 rack and fit my E36 M3 rack while i have the space.. Is it a straight swap or do i need to modify some parts?
Getting more and more excited as i go
