I think you'll find leather tech 2 wheels are also £600 odd pounds and them and sport Evo wheels have been for over a year now!

Don't bother buying them and save your money.
£600 for a steering wheel could equal having a touring project.

Same as mercedes. I have a 190e cosworth and I nearly had a heart attack when I went in for some prices!! I had another about 5 years ago and the parts were reasonable then obviously still pricey but not ridiculous

I don't get the whole extortionate prices theory with dealers, surely lowering the prices to a bit more reasonable amounts for the older cars that less people are buying parts for and draw in the customers to buy dealer parts that are left instead of going elsewhere for copies or second hand spares would make more sense

Actually considering a few models.

It's not the dealer that set the prices, its the manufacturers, BMW in this case.MurphyE30 wrote:I don't get the whole extortionate prices theory with dealers, surely lowering the prices to a bit more reasonable amounts for the older cars that less people are buying parts for and draw in the customers to buy dealer parts that are left instead of going elsewhere for copies or second hand spares would make more sense
The reason why parts prices shoot up is purely down to supply and demand.
Car no longer in production, less cars on road, less demand for parts so production costs go up hence parts price rise.
Sad but true.

Increase in price for rarely bought items makes sense....when they are selling cars at ever increased rates I doubt they are rolling in money from the 10 sport evo steering wheels they sell per year. If they only need a few then the manufacturing cost is relatively more so costs get passed on.
Let's be grateful so many parts are available!

I said the same thing the other day! A company making parts for a 20+ year old car sounds crazy! lets just hope Bmw don't decide its not worth their while anymore and stop!pukar wrote: Let's be grateful so many parts are available!
