Mick, if the howl is from after fitting the new tyres. Make sure the tyres aren't out of shape. We've had loads of brand new out of shape tyres from our suppliers.

They do balance fine.

A tyre fitter would of noticed if they are out of shape. The tyres go like a 50p rather than round and sound like a wheel bearing.

We have been sending lots of tyres back to the suppliers, causing a fair few issues.

nothing was said when i picked the wheels up only that they are not buckled as i asked them to check .

i could put it up on stands and stick in 1st gear on tickover and have a look .
it's getting some rent on Tuesday so i'll find out what it is sometime next week even it means going over to see Craig and chuck him in the back so he can identify where abouts it's coming from .

turns out the loud howling was the front pads which gave way to a noisy NEW diff ...fantastic that's three whining diffs in a row :x

the diff test was around 2-3 mins with no tax or test on the car..that initial test was to make sure it locked both wheels up only .

yes i put the correct amount of 75/90 fully synth tripleQX diff oil in ,i even rotated the shafts and checked the level again .

Do E30 like modern synthetic LSD oils? I was warned against their use in older cars.

yeah i thought the same Jim and stumbling across an old school place that care about quality when i took a wrong turn looking for somewhere else is a right result ..i did enquire at some other places but they weren't up to scratch and i fear I would've been charged more for chicken wire and filler! i even got told by one place they didn't want the job after i told them what i wanted ...some fookin body shop that i bet !!

i'll be using both wings and front valance from this when i get it back ,the only reason i bought it .

Image

my parts are ok but have a few imperfections and these are much better :)

Nah it never had an obc which was disappointing after taking it for granted it had one when i saw the h/l/w/w kit in the photo...but on a brighter note the blaupunkt toronto it had fetched £205 on ebay :D

and the windscreen is now in the black 318is drift shell .....

this car has served the community well with quality parts :D
