Hi all,

Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction with this. Recently installed a new Pioneer head unit in my 1990 320i SE. Unfortunately the old standard HU had been replaced with an aftermarket Sony XPLOD tape deck and this had to go. Anyway, this happened to be 'hard-wired' into the loom with connector blocks and seemed to be done as sensibly as possible (fused in live wire); at least to my untrained eye. I removed it and installed the HU with no problems at all - all working fine. Then I installed some front Pioneer 5.25 inch speakers in replacement of the old - all fine. I then, in one swoop, installed an aftermarket DAB antenna for the radio (which had to be earthed to the A-pillar using conductive adhesive tape due to the earth supplied not being long enough) and wired cabling for an aftermarket amplifier to power a subwoofer in the boot. As far as I know everything has been working ok, until today when I started to get various lit lights on the light check board you get on the SE. It read that the dipped beam had failed initially,I got out and checked it and thought it was a case of a simple bulb change. I turned the ignition off and back on - different errors; different bulbs out! I obviously know now that the bulbs haven't failed, but I'm wondering if this could be something to do with the change of HU? The only other electrical change I can think of is the removal of the old tow bar with electrical bits but this didn't cause any immediate problems...

Any advice would be really appreciated. Is there a wire thats known to cause this kind of problem if moved/damaged? Sorry for the long-winded scenario but thought it best to explain the entire story. I'm not an electrician by any stretch...

Cheers,

Oggy[/list]

No single known cause for all of this, but I'd check the main earthing point behind the glove box where all the brown earth wires connect as a starting point.
