Hi All,
Trying to locate a used ECU for a G reg 325i switchable auto for a friend - hes been quoted a silly amount by an electrician to repair his current unit...
Only problem is the electrician sent his ECU away so do not know the part number - is there any other way to get the PN using the chassis number or reg no?
Thanks all,
adil

Whatever ECU it had, a 173 will be the ideal replacement.
I doubt if there was anything wrong with the original, unless it had dodgy idle control.

Thanks Brian,
They haven't said much more than it needs £X spent on it, but know it could have the same problem it started with after having this work done.
So, is it safe to assume a 173 ECU can directly replace what was in the car?
Grrrmachine - thanks for the Wiki.
Need some clarification on the below:
0261 200 173 Motronic 325i Plastic bumper 9/87 onwards
0261 200 164 Motronic 1.3 325i Auto 9/87 onwards
With mine being a switchable auto, is the 164 the one to go for?
Thanks & Regards,
adil
