63l tank with 2 senders
Am I right in thinking that the fuel pump connection and the second sender connection (across the other side of the tank) have the same type of 2 pin connection? And that the sender unit in the pump side has a totally different connection?
If so, WTF?????

Sender unit on the pump assembly has a three pin connector (included low level switch) and the pump motor has a two pin connector.
Sender unit on the LH side has a two pin connector, but without looking I can't say if it's identical to the pump plug or not. I've never tried to transpose them! What's the problem if they are identical?

Thanks for the confirmation.
While the tank was off the car waiting to be installed, because I was going from a smaller 1 sender tank to the 63l 2 sender tank, and because the loom I got with the tank only had wiring for 1 sender, I took what I thought was the sender cable (i.e. what I now know is actually the pump cable) and made a serial connection across the 2 senders. Went to fire up the motor for the first time and didn't catch. Started stripping down the pump to diagnose the problem only to be completely puzzled by the wiring.
The pump connection and the second sender connection are identical (at least on my tank they are), so I guess you can forgive me the confusion being an E30 novice and a self confessed electrical numpty.
Turns out the pump has no power to it, and the reason for that is there is no fuse in slot 11. I'm assuming this is because it was a carbed car previously. I need to check the pump relay to see if that is also not there.

Pump relay is part of your M52 engine loom, not the car body loom, so it should be there.

Great. Had the +ve and -ve wrong way round on the pump, and once swapped it fired into life for a split second before splitting the FPR in half - looks like I'm missing the retaining clamp/circlip.
