Not the best pic, but this is looking from back to front...

If I'm able (and it's not pi$$ing it down), I can pop a wheel off one of mine tomorrow and get pic of the mount itself?

Thanks
. I guess this is what I'm missing?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291012055796? ... 1423.l2648
Does it bolt directly to the bodywork or is there a bracket that comes down?

Sorry for the delay, still having arm issues
Anyway, I couldn't get a wheel off my breaker, but managed to jack it up to get some sort of pic.
As you'll see, someone got excited trying to hide the rust, so you can't see how the mount is fixed. But hopefully it might help show where the mount needs to go in relation to the exhaust and heat shield.
The mount is fixed (I'd say welded) to the inner chassis rail not the bodywork and there is a handy 'cut out' in the heat shield where it should drop down.

That mount in the eBay link I think is a lower mount and would hang off the mount that's attached to the body. The threaded part goes through the straps to clamp them together.

Bracket is welded to the bodyshell, but often falls off. Replacements are/were available from BMW. If there was ever one there, you should be able to see the scar where it fitted.
Some tourings use a single hanger above the tailpipes instead of the bands around the silencer, and use a lower bracket that clamps to the pipes tight to the box.
