There are so many 325i Sports on sale at the moment, at around the £10k level....which may be a fair reflection of the parts and labour that have gone into a car (especially when the vendor claims they have spent £20k etc!) ....but in reality, what are people actually willing to spend on a 325i Sport?...

I have paid £2400 for mine...and it still needs an interior, wheels, general checking and an MOT!...Which could easily take it up to £4000....and I think that is the most it would realistically be worth...bearing in mind its a very clean shell (so far, anyway!)..

And I dont think I would even spend £10k on a Sport even if I won the lottery!....For £10k ish, there are so many other machines out there...M5, Cerbera, 911, XKR, etc etc...

I would much rather have an E30 M3!

If E30 aficionados are actually willing to part with that sort of money, then yes, they do have a value in that range.....but does anyone actually know personally of people spending that kind of cash on an E30 Sport?

All "old", dare I say, classic (not that I put the E30 into this category, just yet) cars are subject to personal tastes. This then governs its value, along with rarity, history etc. Your interest stops short of £10k for one, where as others may be willing to pay much more.

This is exactly the question!...Its easy to say 'someone will buy it'...but does anyone know that 'someone'??..:)

In the real world, 3000 pounds will buy you a lot more car than an 80s boxy saloon with a 12v engine.

In the BMW world, 5000 pounds will get you a sorted six-cylinder 2-door E30 with an LSD.

In the fairytale dreamland of Sport owners, where unicorns dance with golden geese while rainbows rain down diamonds, the five letters on a V5 are worth about 2000 pounds each. The price to join this mind-boggling club is the street value of one of your kidneys, and watching your childhood dreams dissolve in a cloud of rust particles every time you start the car.

Yes, they live on eBay.

Put the car up for sale there, with no reserve and you will find out exactly what a good sport or any other car is worth.

Wrong!...I asked if people 'personally know'....not just watching anonymous bids from people who may not even exist..:)

As parts prices rise and repair costs rise, sport prices are going to rise.

5-6k is where I would put a good one but the current market is showing 8-10k.

But are you saying that you are PERSONALLY aware of a COMPLETED sale in the £8-£10k region?..That is my question...:)

Dont get me wrong...I think E30's are super cool...I really do...and if they ARE hitting £10k, great, because I have one! :)....I just wonder about the reality of the market place...rather than the hype...

Forget what other cars £10k will get you, that is irrelevant.

You would not get much of an E30 M3 for £10k either, maybe a very high mileage rotten turd IF you're lucky!

A zoner recently paid about £10k for a sport but i cant remember their name!

I am sure zoner bought that low mileage, 1 owner, white sport that was advertised for £15k, not sure what price he actually paid for it but I'm sure it would not have been less then the £10k mark.

For 10k that would not be a very good M3, try spending double that and some. As regards sport prices, a mint low mileage one i would say around 10k. :)

It would be great to know precisely..:)..I am sure of the 50,000 members on this forum, at least ONE must see this thread and admit to the purchase of a high end Sport....you would think so, wouldn't you?...:)

Why do you care?

It's about the car, not the money.

If you want an investment buy a house.

I dont want an investment..I bought my Sport because I wanted the car...I am simply looking looking past the hype....probing a little...ruffling some feathers, by the looks of it! :)

Seems to me that you are already looking to try and make some money out of it.

Just enjoy the car. Money is only stuff. Don't worry about it.

You obviously think a lot about money. This must be the fifth "what's it worth" thread you've started.

Sorry Ben, but I don't understand why you are so troubled?....If I ask 'whats it worth' etc, thats because I am only a recent E30 owner who is simply trying to learn about the cars. There is nothing wrong with understanding the value of something. If my threads are so boring, then what does that say about you, who feels he must respond to them? I am a lawyer by trade, so I question. :)
