I'm thinking about getting an E28 as a bit of a project and know of one locally.

It's a 1985 520 manual which apparently has stood for 10 years. It's a non runner, seller thinks its the starter but not sure. I'm told it has some rust on the bottom of one rear arch but other than that its solid, however a previous owner has 'treated' the door bottoms and sills to a good dose of stone chip.

Spec is nothing special, met black with beige trim, steel wheels, pretty standard really and nothing to get excited about.

I've seen pics but out of respect for the seller I won't post them here, but from what I can see they back up the description.

Asking price is £500 which I think is a bit steep for a non runner that's been idle that long, and my thinking is that paying more for an MOT'd runner would be a better long term bet. I guess I might be tempted if that price was halved but even then I'm still not sure.

What do you guys think?

Forget it for 500 quid - sounds like £250 tops, and not my £250 either. A grand will get a tidy MOT'd runner.

Agree with Andy, too much for a non runner. Sounds like you will be doing them a favour taking it off their hands !
