Hi guys, my first post here!
Just bought a nice clean 318 Lux with stock headunit BLAUPUNKT BREMEN SQR 49. Seems pretty good, the speakers have all crumbled and I'm looking to replace them with some modern Pioneers. These look good, for the fronts and back.
The Lux models have 13cm speakers in the Front as well as the back. Was looking at these

Good to go? ANy suggestions?

Ideally you want same 13cm size but louder ones in the back, the front do need to be shallow fitting, with regard to those - £9 per speaker... Are not going to be great

I installed them and they sound great in the back. Not sure why but the right speaker still isn't working after the install. Any ideas?

They sound decent - the modern equivalent of the originals in every way.
I just need to find out why the right speaker isn't working. I guess it could be a channel on the HU or a dodgy wire...

It's looking like the HU is on it's way out. There is no way I'm rewiring the car as I'll be selling it soon.
I need to find a way to come from the line out, or bypass the amp. I'm not sure if the box in behind the glove box is the amp. I can't find any manuals on the Lux models...
Basically I just want to run an amp without the time and expense of rewiring the car.

they would work like that, but surely having louder/better speakers in the back, would give a better sound, and cope a bit better at higher volumes, and also sound a bit better when driving in the car on your ownB7 wrote:Isn't that what faders are for?polsta wrote:Ideally you want same 13cm size but louder ones in the back,
which afterall is why people but 6x9s or whatever in the rear of a car, rather than just use standard speakers

Proper audio has the main speakers in the front for a good sound stage.
A lot of sound quality audio systems just have in the front good components correctly positioned and a sub with no rear speakers.
You dont sit with your back to a band when its playing right?
6x9's are a compromise and not decent audio system uses them.

People do that because they don't understand how sound systems work.polsta wrote:they would work like that, but surely having louder/better speakers in the back, would give a better sound, and cope a bit better at higher volumes, and also sound a bit better when driving in the car on your ownB7 wrote:Isn't that what faders are for?polsta wrote:Ideally you want same 13cm size but louder ones in the back,

so why did the "premium hi fi pack" roll out with bigger louder speakers on the shelf ? and most cars come with louder speakers in the back and the door/front speakers being more a mid and tweeter type speaker ?

Because they don't understand how sound systems work.
The size of the speaker doesn't make a lot of difference unless you drive it with an appropriate amplifier.

The HiFi pack rear speakers are exactly the same size and spec as the fronts.polsta wrote:so why did the "premium hi fi pack" roll out with bigger louder speakers on the shelf ? and most cars come with louder speakers in the back and the door/front speakers being more a mid and tweeter type speaker ?
