Not sure if any one has a solution for this.

Central locking just randomly stopped working yesterday.

I had previously done the red/black wire and replaced the drowned relay.

Wiring still in tact from the mod. The relay is still clicking away when you either put the key in the door or lift up the lock inside. Not sure what else causes problems.

Car is the touring 316, 93

Any info would be appreciated and yes I have read the wiki :D

'93 touring might just have the unreliable and inaccessible locking motors as used on the E34 etc.
Do you know if the lock motors are half way down the rear edge of the front doors, just behind the edge of the door card?

Not sure will have to check, what would cause them to all suddenly fail though? as none of them activate now

I'm not so well up on the detailed operation and effects of component failures on the later system as I am with the earlier system, but if one motor was generating a permanent unlock request signal, then I would expect nothing to lock.
The late type lock motors (mounted in a totally inaccessible position on top of the door catch mechanism) have a shuttle sitting on a coarse worm drive which engages with a micro switch. The design is poor and wear allows the shuttle to miss the microswitch, IIRC.

If it was an earlier system what would you thoughts be?

Poor is a charitable description ! I have come across several 'late' turds that have decided to stop working AFTER they have jammed in deadlock mode , GGRRRRRRRR ! :( :x

Could the relay still have a problem, even if its still clicking away?
