316 shell want to drop in bigger M40 type

i have a 316 shell at the moment, i want to put a 318is or evan a 320 lump in it. i want to no wethere i will have to change the motronics. or is the motronics the sam for all the engins. i have a feeling that i will have to change it. i want to stay with 4 pot as well so im not shor about a 320 lump

E30 have a seperate engine loom which has the ECU attached to it. The engine loom only connects to the car at the battery and at the c101 connector on the bulkhead beside the fusebox.
When changing E30 engines, you do not have to disconnect the wiring from the engine.
