cars gone limp mode

ive got an automatic 325 sport, and just randomly the car has gone into limp mode- the orange light with explanation mark in a circle is staying on, and from reading the handbook its known as the "shift control electronics hydraulic automatic" ....

ive tried disconnecting the ecu for the gearbox, no joy, also checked fuses, and tried to switch it on and off but still the same..

can anyone help....

Now you know why it was for sale! Check the electrical plug and socket on the gearbox itself for corrosion and hope that this is the problem.

When was it for sale? Think you might have confused it for another car...

Theres no corrosion on the socket...
Will have a look at what youve suggested
