Help,
I have a 4 door that i've run for the past year, great car but I have just traded one of my project bikes for a Cabby, both are 325i.
Both need some bodywork but the Cabby needs rear shocks, Brakes , heater is leaking and has been bypassed, a new roof ...alot more work than the 4 door.
My 4 door has an LSD, bilstein rear shocks ,I refurbed all the brakes last year . Its a great car bar the bodywork.
My dilemma is do i rip the best bits out of the 4 door for the Cabby and sell on the old girl or just out the Cabby as i only have room for one of them,
I dont have a garage so all work is done out in the street, i cant make up my mind.....is the Cabby worth the graft ? Floors are good, needs N/S outer sill and both corners of rear panel are rusty. Also needs a drivers door.

I would normally suggest fragging / deleting the four door :D but as that convertible is obviously scrap and the quattroporte a known quantity, it's the cab that needs to be deleted.

Be aware that to run a convertible , you really need a garage as they invariably leak and have damp issues which quickly turn them to soggy smelly rusty scrap . This issue would deter me more than the fact that they are rather wobbly and not as good a drive as an E30 with a roof.

I have to agree with Pete. That convertible is scrap and needs putting out of its misery.

The saloon looks like it doesn't need much to make it decent transport.

Wow. I'm surprised as I know 4 doors ain't popular .
The Cabby body wise is saveable , I just don't think I can be
Bothered to swap it all over.
Are cabbys that different to drive?

Everything is savable but why spend 5k+ saving a 2k car ? :?

Hopefully your bike was no more than £500 worth as that is how the market will see your convertible :(

On a positive note, it is supposed to be a lovely weekend with temps in the high teens so get the turd paedoed and advertised asap. Before the snow comes :)

As a cabby owner myself I would say sell or break the cab (probably get more for breaking it..) and sort out the 4 door.

Sell the cabby as a project, should see £500. They have a bigger following and will get more interest in it :)

Lol, it owes me a monkey.
I'm not gonna spend shit loads if it's pointless.
It does have cruise control though ... Lol
Should I keep the wheels, there 16"
Thanks for the replies

Working cruise is worth £150 to the right victim BUT if you have not removed it before, you might spend several hours doing it. The wheels are spurious and not really of any value and would probably be considered a bonus by the sort of person who is seeking a cheap convertible 'project' :)

I wouldn't bother taking anything off, just sell as it is. Save yourself the hassle :)

Update,
A good mate of mine has kindly offered to loan me his garage for 12 months
Rent free so I can save the old dog!
I'll keep the 4 door to spank around in - also teaching my 18 yr old to drive in it a˜„ until I've got the cabby road legal, then maybe turn the more door into a trackday
toy.
