hi all, i have got a m50b25 out of a 92 e34 and putting in a 91 318i automatic, i have used the zf310 box, i have a basically removed from working e34 and put straight in the e30, only thing i have changed is e30 temp switch.

1. basically the ignition works, but the fuel pump only works when i bridge the relay or there are 2 green/violet wires engine side, i have only got the thick one wired up but when i put power to the thin one it works, however it shouldnt run constantly when the engine is not running should it?

2. i have heard fuel pump on works when engine is cranking is this true?

3. i have pin 15 hooked to pin 15 and pin 18 hooked to pin 18 however there is no action what so ever when i turn the key??

Any help is massively appreciated

1/ No idea what the first part means, but no, the pump shouldn't run when the engine is not running.
2/ You heard correct. Pump only works when the ECU sees pulses from the crank position sensor.
3/ Pin 15 is for the mirrors, heater fan, windows and sunroof. Nothing to do with the running of the engine.
Pin 18 is the starter signal. Black/yellow wires.
Try linking pins 11 and 14 on the diagnostic socket with a short piece of wire. This should engage the starter and make the engine crank.

sorry it was late ha, what i meant to say is there are 2 wires on the engine loom, both are green/ violet and both go to the same pin, i have the thicker one connected and the thin gauge one isnt, when i put power to the thin one the pump activates therefore should i just leave it disconected?

here is a link to the pin out i used as it has info on the e34 loom:

i also checked i forgot to plug in the MAF would this stop it from turning over?

Il try bridgeing the two tonight see what happens, thanks for your help, il no doubt be back with more questions

cheers

I see the E30 was an auto. Have you disabled the starter inhibitor (gear selector has to be in N or P)?
If not, remove the access panel above the glovebox, find two single plug and socket near the top right, both having a black/yellow and a black wire going to them, unplug both of them, discard the plugs with the black wires and plug the two with black/yellow wires together.

Once again very helpful

so the engine is cranking now, when i p turn it over there is voltage at the fuel pump pin yet i cant hear the fuel pump, should i be able to hear it?

The engine is not firing, does the lamba sensor need to be plugged in?

how to i check if power is going to the coils? and injectors?
