Hey guys,
Due to various reasons (shoddy pattern parts) I was unable to fit the dust-shelds back on my propshaft when replacing the center bearing earlier - I needed the car back together so just threw it on without the front or rear dust shields. I have ordered replacement dust shields (and a new center bearing ) from BMW which should arrive next week, but I have a trackday on Saturday..
Will I crash and die, or will the car be OK (in theory)? ;)
Dust shields missing on Prop - how bad can it be?

I removed mine due to them being a pain in the ass making nasty noises! instead I used high temp spray grease and lots off it to keep moisture out. To be fair though I don't think they get much in them as it's all covered up pretty well. Mine has been fine so far

Thanks. I have some lithium grease - is that the sort of thing you mean, or do you mean actual gloopy grease?

It was a high temp white grease like chain lube but would think lithium will be fine, I don't imagine the bearing gets very hot? After all it's still a sealed bearing so I think it should be fine anyway.

Cool. I'll give it a squirt tomorrow. I won't be leaving it like this for long, but it's nice to know it's not going to explode on the way to Combe or something silly like that.
