In this pic we have an e46 m3 csl disk covered by an e34 m5 wheel on an e36 m3. That wheel is held in place by e30 balljoints in the arms, and steered by an e46 rack.

I love bmw parts interchangeability :D ( just a little something I'm working on at the moment )

That caliper isn't BMW? spacer? So a CSL disc fits under a 17 inch rim

That disc is on the wrong way.

Is that a porsche 996/Boxster S caliper?

Simon, get on the PBMW brake mod!

I know it's the wrong way, it's a borrowed secondhand one just while I'm mocking up, and the passenger wheel was closest to the curb

Yes, it's a 996 / boxster s caliper, and yes it needs spacers.

They will just squeeze under a 17, if you're lucky. Still not sure how I'm going to go, I may end up going down to normal e46 m3 disks as I'm not going up to 18s

I've been waiting for Pbmw 6pot adapters, but got fed up waiting, and can't justify £700 for a pair of calipers anyway, although they do fit tighter to the disk so should be an easier fit under 17s. Similarly, I'd been looking for e31 calipers for ages but they never come up, and when they do they're a lot of money. Some 996 ones came up cheap so I went that way.

Used to have 928 s4 calipers on my Lancia and they were awesome.
cheers,

harry

The porsche 996/Boxster S brembo front and rear upgrade is quite a common one with the people on cutters.

There is a guy on cutters who did a group buy on some brackets and hoses to use a PBMW calliper and 345 CSL disc on the front. I have the discs, the brackets and hoses should be here next week so just the calipers and pads to buy.

The callipers work out at £600 the pair which i though was ok considering that the only ones ive seen on ebay are complete E9x/E8x used kits with discs pads etc which have sold for £600 when i dont need any of it apart form the callipers.

Car looks pretty tough without the covers on the wheels too 8) I took them off as it made it a lot easier to play around with the brakes without having to keep taking the covers off too to check clearances.

Might not be as flash as a bmw performance setup, but came in at nearly a grand less than most peoples bmp setups seem to end up costing.
