Was just wondering if anyone had come across this before, I am told this is not uncommon but it does seem a little serious for a 60k mile car.
Cost for the job at the moment to do both motors is ~£2k.

you're right barry,bss325i wrote:Yep, both those issues are common.
Throttle motors are also common on the S85 V10.

Indeed stressed engines don't need more stress added for a few meaningless hp and nothing stresses an engine like extra RPM.bss325i wrote:Yes i have heard of a hand full of S65 engine failure, coincidentally all had been remapped.
Raised rev limit FTL.
It was a fault with the rods or bolts - the same issue that afflicted the early F10 M5. But yes, raising the rev limit of any high revving engine is just madness.bss325i wrote:Yes i have heard of a hand full of S65 engine failure, coincidentally all had been remapped.

Ah, that's okay then.bss325i wrote:The early F10 M5 S63 engine suffered oil pump failure.

Iirc, lower rev limit and power output?bss325i wrote:Yes early S54's suffered from rod bolt issues an early E46 M3's were recalled.
Interestingly Z3M's with the same engine and of the same age were not.
