Hi all...as per the title....In plan to keep the car standard.....
Would my car have come with something like these? :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bmw-E30-325I- ... 1e87f3ed7c
I quite like the look of the half leather Hounds Tooth interiors I have seen from the Tech 1 cars....such as these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-325i- ... 2336dee82c
Can I get away with the half leather Hounds Tooth interiors?...and maintain that its 'standard'?

The one in the first link is only correct on pre-facelift cars - definately not a Tech 2
The correct cloth trim for the earlier Tech2 cars has a diagonal stripe cloth in the centre seat pads.
The later run-out models had vertical pinstripes but these are pretty rare.
"Houndstooth" or County cloth in a facelift car is just wrong as is 318is Check trim in anything with 6 cylinders
I've seen one or two cars over the years with half leather but not sure whether they are retrims - dont remember seeing it as a factory option anywhere and I've been into E30's a looooooong time

Not at all, both of those sets of seats have had a less than perfect trimmer working on them

Nice /\
Preferable to leather IMO - the only better E30 seats are Recaro LS's in that cloth.

Note the words "convertible" and "motorsport".
ie. it is not a 325i sport. They have tin tops and different interiors.

Hi Ben...right...so do you get 'motorsport' coupes?....distinct from 'sport' coupes?....if so, what the difference?.....I always thought that the correct term for a '325i Sport' was actually '325i MOTORSPORT' and that people just abbreviated it...BenHar wrote:Note the words "convertible" and "motorsport".

Motorsport was only used on E30s for tarted up cabriolets.

Oz is selling a set of Houndstooth LS recaro's.
Some say, they're the sexiest seat .... in the world.

Cheers for that...I just read Wiki...so the Motorsport is actually LESS sporting than the Sport?!.....as it came with STANDARD 325I engine and box ( rather than the close ratio box) and the LSD was an optional rather than standard!....I think I will stick with my Sport coupe!..BenHar wrote:Motorsport was only used on E30s for tarted up cabriolets.

And the Motorsport is 100Kg heavier (as are all cabriolets).979-SPORT wrote:Cheers for that...I just read Wiki...so the Motorsport is actually LESS sporting than the Sport?!.....as it came with STANDARD 325I engine and box ( rather than the close ratio box) and the LSD was an optional rather than standard!....I think I will stick with my Sport coupe!..BenHar wrote:Motorsport was only used on E30s for tarted up cabriolets.

You haven't got a coupe. It's a two-door saloon.

Yes, technically you are correct....but it feels/sounds cooler if I call it a coupe!..BenHar wrote:And the Motorsport is 100Kg heavier (as are all cabriolets).979-SPORT wrote:Cheers for that...I just read Wiki...so the Motorsport is actually LESS sporting than the Sport?!.....as it came with STANDARD 325I engine and box ( rather than the close ratio box) and the LSD was an optional rather than standard!....I think I will stick with my Sport coupe!..BenHar wrote:Motorsport was only used on E30s for tarted up cabriolets.

Iirc, this is my old sport. G113EBL.
On that basis, when I bought the car, it came with two interiors, a replacement leather and what I was told was the original cloth. The original cloth is what I refer to as 'checked' and I believe may be for sale, it was sold on as I had a cracking leather interior. I'll check with the current owner of them. They came with the correct matching door cards, which were sold with it and the seats were in very good condition, no rips or tears.

I've heard back from the current owner of the seats and he still has them. What you need to do is check the build spec of the car and confirm that they are the correct seats. They can be for sale.

UK Sports did NOT come with a IS check style trim. Your car was originally supplied with the particularly nasty silver grey cloth option
Similar but not nearly as nice as Dans lovely anthracite interior that he has posted pics of above.
As the car is a patched up old turd , I would not be too hung up on what is correct and what isn't BUT do not make the usual mistake of buying tatty scrap and thinking you can fix it for £17.86.
Nice E30 interiors are getting very thin on the ground and you will have to pay accordingly. Buying a 'cheap' one with a foooked drivers seat will cost you more in the long run after you pay somebody £1-£300 to repair said foooked drivers seat.
Any rust / bodge pics yet ?

Nothing irrational about it. Try and sell some black leather seats or try and sell some grim grey ones and you will find that my opinion is shared by most. The same goes for velourzz.

Well, when I first got my latest XJ-S, I was determined to change the Saville grey leather heated/electric lumber support seats for red ones....but then it sort of grew on me....now i quite like it...having said that, I don't think I would go out of my way to have grey seats...I quite like Doeskin....bit of a Jag thing!..Cloggy Saint wrote:Does everyone share Peter's irrational hatred of grey seats?
