Write a good advert and pictures with a price that reflects the actual car and not a dream and it will sell. Many cars sell from the forum and usually quicker then other places. Ebay is another option for quick sale but also expect the scum on there.

How realistic are you willing to be on price based on the condition?

Not being cheeky but I sold mine last year via an eBay auction, it sold for £2400 and was in decent condition but far from perfect no visible rust and I had been all over the car.

Plus points was lots of recent engine work, cambelt, tensioner, gaskets, seals etc. Nearly new exhaust, very good condition roof, freshly refurbed wheels with practically brand new avons all round, years test and 6 months tax, tech 1 kit, full leather which was grubby but complete, new boge shocks and -40mm springs plus more.

All in all about £1600 in parts alone within 1000 miles of the sale.

Downsides was 11 owners, switchable auto, 167K miles and various dings on the body.

I had it listed here and pistonheads @ £2250ono and got no genuine interest.

Personally you should look at the market, do your homework and see what standard your car is currently in and what the spec, history, owner and mileage is as this should also be considered when pricing

Post up lots of pictures and details about the car including service history etc and the likes of pacerpete, e30topless, bss325i will give you a good idea of its true value. But you will need to be honest, it's the only way anyone can give you a realistic figure.

I have classic car insurance with an agreed valuation . Is this good to go by because at the end of the day this is what an insurance company would pay out in the event of a claim ?

Anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, not what an insurance company says it is worth.

Take the advice of writing a detailed advert, be honest and get some high res pictures up of the good and the bad.

Being a cabby, put it up for sale closer to spring / summer.

Go through this guide:

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... s_it_worth

and be HONEST about the condition. Tell us what price it suggests, and we can tell you if that's too high/low.

I've found Car and Classic best. Also had interest on Autotrader and Pistonheads when I sold one of mine.

Cars do sell on the Zone but you get the inevitable I'll have that when my bonds mature/if you were closer/if its got 36 months warranty/if the glovebox fur is mint etc etc :)

I've heard if my bonds mature line a few times, mainly in Iver Heath! :D

I sold mine on E-Bay by sticking it up as no reserve, after failing to sell it with a reserve price on it. It went near to what I wanted for it.
