i cleaned out my air box because i found oil in it, and the the boot. i put it all back together took it for a drive and it ran fine. then after about 5 minutes bogged down. i did leave the top part of the box in hot water for a bit. could of i damaged the electrics. thanks

....yeah, i thought where it was sealed it would be ok. will it just need to dry out.

it may just need to dry out (airing cupboard) but it may be fubared fella, the wiki does show how to test

shit, knew it was a bad idea to not take it out why i cleaned the rest. and hopefully will dry out. how much are they to buy second hand/ new usually.

Some people really should just pay people to work on their cars!
How much oil was there? Surely a wipe with a rag with brake cleaner on would have been a better option

not much, i admit it was a stupid decision. as i said i should of taken it apart at least. see how it goes tomorrow if not have to get a new one.

Bit of water in it for a short while won't cause any serious permanent damage, but you'll have to prise the cover off to dry it out, and reseal afterwards.

ah k, and the boot has just been replaced not with new. but had no splits in it. and checked when i put it back on

just started it, struggled so i kept dipping the throttle it then idled. drove it it was bogging then picking up so think it just needs to dry a bit more.

If it needs drying out, can I suggest you put it into the airing cupboard, or better still put it into a bag of rice.
