Looking to get it looking minty fresh time has finally come! standard 2dr no bodykit, wanted to get it sprayed in the same colour.

there are a few very very light dings/ scratches around, nothing major,

in terms of the welding the rear valance above the tow eyes gone, and both rear jacking points. these three sections will need welding,

just wanted to get an average cost really, obv prices will differ/quality of work from p2p, but first time ive really enquired about bodywork.

and general price of a same colour spray?

car will go most likely with no engine/ windscreen, rear windows and all trim will be removed, headlights/ scuttles/ wipers/ rear lights/ gutter trim/ the lot and planning to get trailered?

im in south london any recommended shops around?

:)

Do you want the engine bay painted as well ?

Unless you are going for a funky metallic or pearl the cost of paint it self if pretty much the same. Most places will do a base coat with clear on top

The welding is straightforward but do you want the OEM stone chip finish on the rear valance and side skirts ?

As for it being stripped, you'll save some labour money but not much

I'd bank on it being £2000-£2500 for an nice job

I can recommend some one in west London

Shame you not up here in North East, a mate would do respray for about £600. Welding £100-£200 ish.

£600 ???

If going with 2k base paint and clear coat lacquer, by the time you throw in the other materials (DA discs, wet & dry, masking tape & paper) and cover overheads (gas & electric) it is going to be £150-£200 to cover all that.

How anyone no matter where they are in the country can paint a car for under a grand is beyond me. At £600 your mate must be scotching the car down, using old shitty cellulose paint and thinning it out and dusting it on, zero flatting back or polishing and working for £5 and hour in a shed.

Probably wouldn't even remove the bumpers let alone the lights and screens etc, nether would it be a proper air change and oven set up, a cheap lock up or home made booth with an extractor job at best, the materials and consumables alone to to a proper full job are quite a few hundred, as kos says he'd be an unemployed cowboy working for penuts to charge 600, any even half decent employed sprayer wouldn't get out if bed to do that, let alone what a 600 paint job would look like after a 1 British all seasons year

Thing also with a full re spray, to make a car look decent you really need to replace a lot of trim and other bits aswell - new roundels and badges etc etc to compliment it and not put worn stuff back on , so budget for that too, scuttle vents wiper arms etc need refurbing or replacing too if you want to make the whole external tie in with the paint job, costs can creep up

Not the engine bay planning to do that myself, with the colour it's staying the same, so not a in out spray, just exterior,

preferably the oem chip finish on the back and sides is what I want, think on the sides its smooth though,

yeah if you have got one you recommend I will check them out?

I know one in hounslow area, custom cars? I enquired a couple years back now,

Nothing wrong with doing bits yourself and removing as much as possible in your own time, but after going to all the trouble of stripping down, buying new shiny things to attach afterwards and then the time spent reassembling, it's daft to skimp on a crappy paintjob- you'd be disappointed. Far better to throw a few more sheckles for a decent paintjob and be done with it... :thumb:

You don't have to spend fortunes - wiper arms etc you can do yourself, OR - get the sprayer to do them when/if he does the rest of the cars black work, door handles n door bits n gutter trimm etc , never ever trust money with a cheap sprayer, its very very much also how it looks after a year,2,3,5 years - cheap which will be cheap coz of poor materials and hardly any prep work or a good standard of any prep work, etc etc - will soon bubble up and blister and god knows what, even @600 you'd be gutted being a waste of money, and the longer between stages the better - so don't trust anyone who says they can do a full re spray in a weekend or whatever !
