Thinking of purchasing a dogleg gearbox for 325i sport M20.
Does anyone know if there were different versions of dogleg gearbox for the M20 or only one type?
Part numbers would be handy and any idea of what they cost nowadays.
Also what do members think of having a dogleg gearbox in a sport ??
Thanks in advance to any helpers

Why bother ?
You will need a box, the prop and a different diff. £1000 + for no gain .

Pretty pointless unless you are racing, and even then there are better things to spend a grand on.

I looked into doing this then though better of it.
The dog leg box that fits direct onto an M20 and was available as an option on the 323i was based on the weaker 240 gearbox.
You can use a E28/E24/E30 M3 265 dog leg box which is stronger but you need the bell housing from a US spec 528e to bolt it up to an M20.
As said, you will need to change the ratio of the diff and also the prop and gear linkage.

What ratio diff would you say matches the dogleg box and I am guess it must be different in length hence the changing of prop? And would that mean custom prop or a different model?bss325i wrote: As said, you will need to change the ratio of the diff and also the prop and gear linkage.

You need an m3 prop and linkage and a 3.15 diff iirc
