hi, might be a silly question... but what is the standard stud arrangement on an e30 325i cab?

mine has five stud - bbs wheels and I wanted to get a new set as these are tired looking but I keep feeling like if I ordered a set they will come as four stud

Just a gut feeling

Anyone help

Should be 4 stud, sounds like yours has been converted, unfortunately, as you know nothing about it, you will probably find some bodged up E36 suspension parts under the front of the car

Hi Dan

Sent you a pm but seems your inbox is full
I know a lot about cars. I can look at a car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming

Wheels will be back in the arches, welded wishbones, and the presence of E36 struts

You could just be lucky, and have E30 M3 suspension!

If the front damper bolts to the hub with three bolts ( two straight into the hub at the bottom, one pinch bolt and nut higher up ) then it's e36 based suspension.

If the damper strut is welded as one piece then you have a grands worth of e30 m3 on there :D
cheers,

Yes, all e36 are 5 stud.

You need to take a centre cap off and see what spec the wheels on there are, which will give you an idea of what else you can fit.

E36 wheels are usually pretty high offset, from 41 to 47mm depending on width, e46 wheels are similar. If they're from another bmw, like an e34 or e32 they'll be a lower offset, more like et20.
cheers,

harry

finally figured that the suspension is e36... and the alloys were bbs rx 204

so, I changed the alloys for some new bbs sr wheels. pics on the car (I know they are not to everyones taste - but neither is turboing a cab - lol).

but I now have another problem, the drivers side front suspension top mounts are worn - completely..

the part number looks like 2247 346 - which I have looked up a little and of course is from an e36 - so are these the right ones to buy - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Top-Str ... 565d7f034c

Never seen those wheels before, they're like a modern TSW Venom!

These are the kind of people who bodge E36 suspension on E30s reassembling everything together using worn out parts.

The wheels look ok (like the colour and style) as you have 5 stud you can't have the original wheels anyway.

Can't even remember what venoms looked like now? But at least I stuck to BBS wheels.

Any ideas on the suspension top mounts ?
