I remember seeing the original for sale advert - it's not something you forget easily. I think it's in good hands now, though, so well done and good luck with progress. Keep the posts coming please

So after a long afternoon finally put the new belt on the alternator. was quite the task due to the lack of space! all the lights on the dash prev have gone off, car is no longer overheating too
running a lot better, only thing i could fault is that it idles quite high at around 1.8k revs, the car was driving it self like it had too much throttle. no feet on clutch or accelerator and it was going? but then when in neutral on driveway it idled correctly around 900rpm. any ideas?

sounds like a seized pulley possibly alternator.Sach_UK wrote:after checkin today, the car is still screeching even after alternator belt change
A seized pulley would have caused the belt to snap like that in the first place,
did you check all the pulleys spun freely when the belt was off?
Either this or the belt has not been tensioned properly?

Belt has now been tensioned properly but the noise is still their only sometimes.
i have replaced the air intake boot rubber and the idle control valve rubber due to the previous rubbers all being cracked and letting air off,
it now idles even higher to around 3k which is my main problem currently! any other ideas? my conclusion is the air filter isnt right, thinking about changing back to the standard panel filter?
I have replaced the rear lights with some lovely OEM lights, no more sh*te! will get pics up tomorrow.
need to get car ready for its MOT, get it on the road to begin with.

Finally got the alternator pulley noise sorted, some more tensioning was required.
Have changed the cone filter back to a standard air box tonight, now idling around 1k which is much better. still not 100% and sounds a little misfirey? possibly think could have a tampered with MAF.
Removed all the shoddy wiring left from previous alarm/ice installs, have managed to get hold of some new door looms, central locking actuators and microswitches. Will see if i can fit them as soon as.

Shoddy Wiring!

One wire attached to a half broken microswitch! lol

Doesn't get much better on the other side!

Finally some genuine non-chavved shit tail lights!

Current state of the inside

All rubber boot's changed, maf opened to check a few things, this was prior to changing the sh*t cone filter, haven't got a pic of new one as fitted at night!

So today i got her running all nice like it should be after a spark plug change and a little clean out!
back to the central locking problem been looking at some of the wiring near the ecu area and have found this relay which is a 'Ford' Relay which is always hot? any ideas? and the toad power window module?
