Hi,
In the process of sorting the M3 out got new brakes pads and discs now upgrading the suspension. Thinking of buying the Bilstein B6 shocks .. But stuck on which lowering springs ?
Any recommendations ? ... All I can see available are Spax and Gmax
I'm not interested in coil overs
Thanks

When I had the S14 fitted I had eibach from one of the 4 cylinder E30's. Can't remember which one, and now with the S50B32 I have eibach from the 325. The ride is excellent IMO. It's hard to remember what the original ride height was/looked like as I've had eibach for 14 years but about 30mm I'd say.

H&R sport springs (Red)For 318is/M3 is a good match for B6 shocks, I run them on my m3 its about 30mm drop.

I couldn't say for an M3. But for my 325i I've recently bought B6's and plan to use Eibach springs. I've had them on an old 318is with unknown shocks and was pleased with them. H&R and Eibach seem to be the popular choice.
Don't buy G-Max..

I use Faulkner springs...30-40mm drop, I reckon, although I think the rears maybe a little on the soft side.
In all other respects, they are a good compromise for road and track use...firm, but not too harsh to make it unusable on the road, but stiff enough to allow either R888s or slicks on track.
I use AVO adjustable dampers, but I wouldn't recommend them...although they work OK, the build quality is poor...I had one front adjuster shear off when new (replaced under warranty), but the front inserts require new top nuts to fit the standard strut towers...the ones supplied are made of chocolate and sheared after a couple of years...We had to fabricate a small extension to the strut tower to allow the use of a standard nut with a large washer used as a thrust bearing.

Mines on eibach springs and bilsteins.
A little lower and a little firmer than standard, but a great road setup. A little too soft for proper track use, but would be ok for the occasional track day. Perfectly comfortable for long journeys too.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the info. just brought the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit, comes with Bilstein B8 (same as the B6's but shorter.... apparently ) and the Eibach springs. Arriving on Friday ... will be fitting them on sat... lets hope it doesn't rain

H&R Sport Springs only with the B8's, can use B6 but now the B8's are the Standard as they dont make B6 shocks any more for the E30 B8 only!!
B6 and B8 are the same, just more travel on the B6 and less On the B8's..

I wonder if Bilstein ever knew what controversy they would create between their B6 and B8 shocks. Everyones got a different story. I don't know myself, but enjoy the stories people bring either way.
Well done virdi, I hope the results are good with the B12 setup. Thats what I was going to go for but a set of B6 shocks came up at a good deal. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Guy so I'm in the process of fitting these stocks ... The rear socks don't come with dust covers. I can't use the old ones as they are welded
My question is ... Were the hell do I get covers for these? And which ones ?

The standard OEM covers will do fine, I'm sure one of the breakers on here will have a pair if you've not got any.
Here's what they look like;

The dust cover usually incorporates the lower thrust washer for the top mounts. If your chosen dust covers don't, then it's essential to fit separate ones.

Hi, The standard shock do have these washers attached on top of the dust covers but I have no idea how to remove them ... Anyone know the best to get them off, and then the best way to secure them on the new shocks ?
Thanks
Thanks
