Do you know if a 525 engine is the same as a 325? i.e. will it drop straight in?

Regards

Chris

M20 engine from 525 is basically the same as E30 M20, but a few things bolted around the outside are different.
Shouldn't be any problem swapping a 6 pot for a 6 pot, but you will need one or two things extra to swap for a 4 pot.

So he did - in the thread title.
Answer is yes, with a lot of additional parts and hard work - but the results are worth it.
Been discussed many, many times in the "engine swaps" forum.

so the 525's were m20 2.5 up to 89 then they changed to 24v's after that? 24v's are the M50 then?

So a P plate 525i would be a m50 24v?

whats the difference with the 525 m30 "big six" ive read about? Goddam it theres too many variations for each model!

what 525 bottom end would fit a 325i? I know about the 525e 2.7 route and so far have been unsuccessful in finding one so im trying to find a regular bottom end.

ive found a P plate 525, but i would rather know what im looking for.

P plate 525 will be a M50 with vanos variable valve timing. Very nice conversion for an E30. That's what I've got in one of mine.
Not sure without checking if this will have the EWS immobiliser system. If it has, get the EWS module and matching ECU, and the key and column pickup coil.
