I'm contemplating whether I should replace/rebuild the oil pump whilst doing the rebuild?

Came across this on ebay and wanted to know what people thought of Febi products?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-07362-BM ... 0981732754

Dealer is charging nearly £200 for a unit..

Would it be worth going down the rebuild route and what parts would be recommended for rebuilding?

IIRC, febi is same company as bilstien so i would say its very good.

I think that some oem stuff is made by febi too

BMW E30 2.0 2 Door (M20B28 Turbo project to start)

I did see bilstien mentioned on the page, and pretty confident that these would be good to use.

Only issue is that the guy has no more in stock and have tried searching for other sellers.

Would it be worth considering rebuilding my current pump from the items listed from RealOEM?

yours will be worn/knackered so not replacing it would be madness. Its the heart of the engine the oil pump.

You can strip them easily, you want to inspect the 2 gears and the teeth, and for wear/scoring on the casing the gears sit in itself

Buy a new Febi one. Someone will have one , try C3 or Motormec if Euros or GSF do not stock them any more. To replace just the worn bits separately from BMW will cost more than a Complete pump.

That or give a motorfactors like ECP or GSF the Febi part number and they should be able to order it in. Aslong as Febi still produce and sell them, they can order it.

i always get one from the dealer its a much nicer piece than the febi. the oil pump is slightly important so i never skimp and they arent much more expensive. same with the water pump i always get the best

Seems like there's someone out there who has a oil pump fetish as no one has them in stock.

C3, Motormec cannot get hold of them and GSF/ECP are not sure whether they can get more in.

Apparently Febi are in the middle of changing the parts manufacture's who supply the parts to make up the pump.

Will do some more searching around this weekend!

Try US or German Ebay. There are a lot more M20 turds there, than here, particularly the US.
