I've had my rocker cover off (M20B25) a few times lately, and it's fairly obvious to me that the fixings that hold it on aren't the originals. ie it's got 6 bolts, and 2 screws 8O
I'm almost certain that my previous 325 had studs and nuts holding the cover on.
I really need to get some studs in to replace the bolts/screws, mainly because the thread on at least two of the fixing holes is on its way out, and I'm sure studs would be much easier.
Question is, where would I get the studs from? Would they be a dealer part or could I get them from elsewhere?

I would suggest either your locall scrappy or dealer....
Pete don't care about colour, He would shag a rainbow if he could find the end of it....

That's another thing that made me wonder. I've looked at these sets before and wondered if my car was different.
I'll try to get a set of studs then, then maybe get one of these kits to finish it off.

Have they changed the threads in the head where the studs fix in ?

If not you can get new studs from BMW for pennies or you might have to mess about getting bigger studs/nuts and tapping some new threads, just be care full not to get any aly swarf in the engine !
