I've dug around for a while now but never found anything thats helped me much (probably due to poor searching skills)

I need an e30 2.5 coding plug for my 316i dials as I'm still using the single sender fuel tank and would rather keep my original mileage at 85k winkeye

Question is what is it? what does it look like?
and is it part of the instrument cluster or the wiring behind it?

Thanks a lot for any info.

DanThe will probably answer this anyway

Front lower right corner of the cluster, facing forwards. You only need to remove the trim piece across the top of the steering column to reach it.
It's white, and about 25mm-30mm by about 10mm.

They might not, but it's a saleable part out of a scrap one.
